We have embarked on a new program which joins our
fund raising effort with the preservation of vital memorabilia that are
truly museum quality artifacts. The Jana Domino Thoroughbred Foundation
Inc., through its artifacts agent, Thoroughbred Champions Gallery (http://www.championsgallery.com),
has begun a program to preserve artifacts from our best racing events.
At Saratoga Racecourse, the historic 2002 Grade One
Test Stakes produced an event that tested the courage of Grade One winners
You and Carson Hollow in a most memorable and spectacular race. Not since
the Travers of Jaipur and Ridan in 1962 have the Saratoga fans witnessed
such a step for step competitive race. The Sword Dancer Handicap, won by
With Anticipation made Pat Day the all time leading money winning Jockey.
This was another event that was part of the great Saratoga 2002 racing
season. Events that involve Hall of Fame Jockeys such as Pat Day and Hall of
Fame Trainers such as Bobby Frankel the trainer of You, are of tremendous historic value. The
saddle cloths, racing colors and other related memorabilia will be given
to museum to be revered by the racing public for posterity.
Our program allows for individuals to participate in
the donation program much as The Rose Center at the Museum of Natural
History in New York did when they solicited donations of $2,000 for each
seat in the new Planetarium. The seats are named in honor of the
donors. In our new program each historic item displayed will also bear the
name of a donor and be coupled with the recognition of the individuals that
provided the artifacts on exhibit. Champions Gallery will provide a framed
letter from the museum or racetrack which received the gift along with a
picture of the artifacts donated to commemorate the contribution for each
donor.
Our extensive resources to accept such artifacts,
which will be on public display in a variety of places include, The
International Museum
of Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park, the Keeneland Library, and racetracks and
racing museums throughout America. The funds raised will be made
available for the important charities to include the Day Care Center and the
Backstretch Employees Assistance Team, etc. Some funds will also be given to
the institution where the item is on public display.
As horsemen, we must preserve our own history for the
generations to come that will appreciate the great events that occur during
our lifetime. We urge all people to participate in the multiple effort of
historic preservation and charity. You can reach Robert Fox by mobile phone
at 201-362-5619 to discuss this program further.
